– HORIZONTAL direction: Handle at the left, recipe engraved to the right of the handle
– VERTICAL direction: Handle at the top, recipe engraved below.

The writing is engraved and the charring effect it has with the different slats is what gives it a slightly brown hue, or the burnt color.
